More examples of stewardship
Examples are a great thing. One of the youth leaders in our church, Ryan, was talking to me the other day. While we were talking the topic of stewardship came up. Ryan has a great voice, and has recently begun to sing on the worship team after a hiatus of a couple of years. His voice is an added plus, but he brings more than his voice, he brings a heart of worship, clearly evident as he sings on Sunday morning. I told him how much I appreciated seeing him on the worship team, and how much he brings to the worship on Sunday. His comment to me was, “I realize I have been given a talent, and I need to be a good steward of that talent the Lord has given me.”
Any discussion on giving must have the broader scope of stewardship. And stewardship fits within the greater picture of worship to the Lord. All that we have is from God Himself (Psalm 24:1), including the abilities and talents we are blessed with. How we steward (take care of or use wisely) our talents, then becomes worship to the Lord, glorifying Him. Ryan understood that the two topics, stewardship and worship, go together.

Hey Scott,
Good stuff. It sounds like things are shakin'. I hope the addition of Charlie will be an added blessing.
