Turnaround

Title: turnaround. Why? When I came to Christ, I had to make a turnaround in my life. I am in the midst of a turnaround church, and Christ is still at work turning me around to following Him more closely.

My Son and the 4th Grade trip

I had the privilege of going with the fourth graders at our school, CrossRoad Christian Academy, on their Sacramento/San Francisco trip. This is Justin looking out over San Francisco bay. I enjoyed the trip with him immensely. He is a great kid, and I'm not just saying that because he's mine, he truly is. The fun was trying see the trip through his eyes, what he thought was important and interesting. The highlight was when he leaned over next to me, while riding on the bus, and said, "Daddy, I'm sure glad you came." Those are moments to remember.

Here is Justin with some of the other 4th grade boys, and one of the starting basketball players for the Utah Jazz. He happened to be walking through the Oakland airport, so we stopped and asked to take a picture with him. He is reallllly tall. Karolinko (don't know his first name) was kind and cooperative as we got the kids together for the picture.

Theology

Ignorance of God – ignorance both of His ways and of the practice of communion with Him – lies at the root of much of the church’s weakness today. J.I. Packer

Down's Syndrome

There is a great article about the governor of Alaska. It seems she just had a baby, but this is a very special baby. Her son has Down's syndrome. When she found out he had down's syndrome, and given the option of abortion, she and her husband never hesitated. Of course they were going to keep him. It's an Inspirational story written by Albert Mohler. check it out:

Whatever works

I read this in "Us" magazine last week. Yes, I did read it, and they have this really neat section of quotes, so here it goes:

I’ll use whatever works. I’m not a follower of this or that religious leader. Ashton Kutcher on Kabbalah and faith

I saw a picture of Ashton a while back with a "Jesus is my homeboy" shirt on. He seems to be like much of our society, whatever works this week is what I'll do. By the way, I'm not knocking Ashton, I think he's really funny, he's just not someone I would want to follow theologically. I did qoute this in my sermon this week, though.

I believe I'll keep my faith where it is. I am a follower of One. He is alot more reliable than "this or that".
